Feb 9: Spill It! A Love Letter Writing Workshop

Posted in Blog

Vintage composition of handwriting, quill pen and ink. Selective focus on ink and pen. Text is from Shakespeare's Sonnet 18.

Have you always wanted to write eloquent, rapturous love letters but don’t know where to begin? The art of letter writing is not lost – come find it with us!

Your hosts, writer Tuula Rebhahn and artist Kara Lewis, will walk you through some simple practices to help you express to your lover — or BFF — how you really feel. Then we’ll massage our prose until it practically melts off the page. Finally, we’ll show you how to seal it all up in a beautiful package, with handmade envelopes and fancy stamps! Hand drawing illustration of red balloon with ribbon as heart shape.

This Valentine’s Day, give them a gift they’ll treasure forever, one that money could never buy — your words. All other materials provided.

Tuula Rebhahn is a lifelong letter writer, in addition to a poet, journalist and educator. She credits love letters with establishing and maintaining a successful long-term relationship, and is eager to share her excitement about pens, paper and the stories we tell with them.

Kara Lewis is an artist, journaler and former arts education director. Her passions are nature and storytelling. She looks forward to sharing the writing experience in class with everyone.
